Gardner School

The Gardner School of Arts and Sciences approached us to build a new sign for their school's entrance. We worked with them to create a sign that reflected their mission but also tied into their campus and its stunning surrounding nature.

Their 5-acre campus has views of Mount St. Helens, a protected wetland, and a year-round garden. That environment, coupled with the school's focus on art and science, is something we wanted the sign to tie into.

The final design was a planter box with a sign mounted in the center. The wood sign is a 3D carving of Mount St. Helens with engravings of native trees, plants, and animals. The sign, coupled with the planter box structure, speaks to the surrounding nature and the school's academic mission.

The sign was made with Accoya and the planter box was made with Ipe. Both materials give a natural feeling while being able to last a long time outdoors in the Pacific Northwest.
